Healthcare media and public relations strategy specialist Green Room Publications has opened a new office in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This is the agency’s second office in the city.

Green Room provides global healthcare companies with communications expertise for all stages of drug, device and diagnostics development and commercialisation, from regulatory filings to patient advocacy, media relations, corporate communications and crisis management. The agency’s diverse client list includes names such as Novartis Oncology, Alpharma Animal Health, the MS Society, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as non-healthcare clients.

Green Room Cambridge will use the agency’s hybrid model, combining full-time employees and independent industry experts to create customised, skill-based client teams, with each project overseen by the company’s senior partners. The agency says this model allows them to “[deliver] the bandwidth of a large agency along with the expertise and superior client service of a boutique firm”.

The new Cambridge office will be led by Green Room’s founding partners and former television news reporters Karen Carolonza and Deborah Sittig, who will be working from the agency’s headquarters in Boonton, New Jersey.

"The additional resources Green Room is investing in the Boston area will enable us to better serve our clients and expand our footprint in the region," said Carolonza, who now serves as the agency’s principle, strategy. "We also want to leverage the wealth of talent and opportunity endemic to such an innovation-focused environment to continually build our healthcare knowledge base and bring value to our clients' communications goals."

“In this fast paced, high-tech world, nothing can replace one-on-one engagement. With this local presence, we can respond more nimbly to the opportunities that continue to present themselves,” added Sittig, who is the agency’s principle, media.

The hybrid approach has won praise from clients.

"Green Room PR's hybrid approach to creating a customized team to help us reach our company's goals made a lot of sense," said Terri Dumas, vice president of marketing at Green Room client RAB Lighting, Inc. "Our unique line of products required a PR team that could take the time to understand and promote our new line.”

The agency has slowly been expanding its team through the last year, with a mix of former journalists and public relations professionals, who were selected to meet particular client needs, allowing Green Room to assemble ‘dream teams’ of professionals for each client.
