nContact, a North Carolina-based medical device company, has received a 2011 Interactive Media Award for Best in Class Medical Site, against stiff competition from over 500 international and domestic websites.

The winning site, www.ncontactinc.com, designed by Georgia, US-based creative agency Studio 1440, was recognised for excellence in design, development and implementation. It received a near-perfect score in each judging category.

"We designed our new website to represent the direction and vision of our company as we pioneer new treatment alternatives for common cardiac arrhythmias. As we continue to advance our technology and expand treatments to new patient populations, we will look to our website to chronicle our evolution,” said John P Funkhouser, president and chief executive officer of nContact, which was founded in 2005.

Studio 1440 has been recognised by the Interactive Media Awards each year since 2008 and was named in the Top 10 Agencies of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Other healthcare websites receiving ‘Best in Class’ Interactive Media Awards 2011 include US-based educational treatment solutions provider Rethink Autism for their website rethinkautism.com, UK-based digital consultancy the Reading Room for the Walk4Life website, and US-based design and digital agency Matrix Group International for the website for the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT). Websites commended for their outstanding achievement in this year’s awards include the Journal of Chinese Medicine website, the Child Mind Institute website and Microsoft’s What’s Next In Health website.

The Interactive Media Awards, sponsored by the Interactive Media Council (IMC), are designed to recognise the highest standards of web design and development, and honours both individuals and organisations for the outstanding achievements.

The awards are sponsored by the Interactive Media Council (IMC), a non-profit organisation comprising leading web designers, developers, programmers, advertisers and other professionals and experts from various areas of web-related business, which has over 100 members from 14 countries, and is dedicated to elevating the standards of excellence on the Internet. The ‘Best in Class’ award represents the most prestigious accolade presented by the IMC.
